John grew up in Tucson, Arizona in the beautiful Sonoran desert in a loving evangelical Christian home. When he was ten years old God moved in his life and he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and committed himself to ministry. John met his wife Angel through their church in high school and they began courting weeks before John headed off to Gordon College in Massachusetts where he received his degree in Biblical-Theological Studies. In January of 2001 John and Angel married and moved to Phoenix, Arizona. John wanted to spend a few years "in the trenches" before heading off to seminary, so he worked for the self-proclaimed "Toughest Sheriff in America" (he dresses the inmates in stripes, makes them wear pink underwear and has chain gangs...really!) John worked in a maximum security jail in downtown Phoenix with a range of inmates: from those committed for violent crimes, to sex offenders, to juveniles. John and Angel moved to Princeton in the summer of 2003 for John to attend Princeton Theological Seminary (PTS). They began attending Westerly that summer and John began a two-year internship at Westerly in 2004. John was hired as Assistant Pastor for Ministry Development in May 2006 after graduating from PTS with a Masters in Divinity. He is in charge of administrative duties, adult education, leadership recruitment and training, and developing the church's ministries in light of our vision: "To make disciples in Princeton and around the world." Angel graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary with a Masters of Arts in Biblical Counseling in May of 2006 and is currently counseling in the Princeton area. They have two precious children: Camille (born in 2003) and Soren (born in 2005). John loves sports, music, and Mexican food.
