During the month of May, the preaching series focused on tearing down the walls that separate people -- even as believers. (Miss the sermon series (He Has Broken Down the Wall)? Check them out here.) The gospel, rightly understood and practiced, will tear down the walls that divide us. Some of these walls are ethnicity, socio-economic disparity, educational background, etc. These issues are being talked about at present in the culture at large. We want to provide leadership for our community in bridging these barriers in a way that glorifies Jesus Christ. We are challenging the congregation to take practical gospel steps to bridge these barriers through hospitality, understanding, forging new relationships and offering and receiving forgiveness as appropriate.
One initiative that we are launching during the series are Koinonia Gatherings. These gatherings will place people of Stone Hill together (with different ethnicity, socio-economic backgrounds, educational differences) to get to know one another better. We will have some carefully crafted questions and guidelines to help facilitate conversation and understanding.
The Koinonia Gatherings will be hosted by a number of Stone Hill Church members. If you would like to attend a gathering, you can sign up at the Welcome Desk, call the church office at (609) 924-3816, or send an email to Lara Holt in the office. After you sign up, you will receive further information connecting you with a Koinonia group.
