Bill was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He became a Christian in high school through the ministry of Young Life. He came to Princeton in 1975 to attend Princeton University where he became involved in the Princeton Evangelical Fellowship and began to attend Westerly Road Church. Bill became a member of WRC while he was a student at the University. In 1980, Bill married Debbie Hayes, also a Princeton graduate. In 1985 Bill and Debbie returned to Princeton and began working as staff members for PEF. Bill was ordained through WRC in 1985, and has served as an elder at the church for many years. In 1996 Bill became the director of the PEF. Bill and Debbie have four children. Their oldest, Sarah, just graduated from Wheaton College and is starting medical school. Their son, Billy, is a junior at Cornell University. Their daughter, Katie, is a senior at Princeton High School, and their youngest, Rachel, is just starting Princeton High school as a freshman.
